Whelping Room
Our whelping Area is our Bedroom. Each puppy is hand whelped Cord Tied and Cut. Puppy is then weighed and Collared. Puppies are Kept in a warming box tell mom is done this way she is less like to step on one while still whelping. once the last puppy is born mom's whelping box is clean and fresh blankets are put in along with her babies

Puppies are Handled Daily we get everyone's weights make sure everyone is gaining weight. We also start early stimulation on each puppy.
Lucy decided she didn't want to be in our room in her whelping box. she wanted to be with us in the living room, so we set up a kiddy pool for her and her babies. She was so happy to be out there with us. note there where 5 other females in the living room all laying around and lucy was not bothered at all.

We have Multiple Whelping Boxes we use. we built the wooden one and still do use it. we also purchased a few PVC ones that are nice and quick to set up or move around
The Monitor system. We don't sleep the first 2 weeks we are both up and down with the moms and puppies. we have Camera's on all the puppies 24/7. Ed take Night shift most nights tell 4 to 5 weeks of age. I take day shift cleaning, bottle feeding if needed. we keep everything as sanitary as possible. we do limit the traffic in and out of our home tell the puppies have received their 1st set of vaccines.
We keep a tablet on our bed between us the first 4 weeks. we also have it connected to one of the tv's. this way if a puppy gets behind mom we can get up and help mom by moving the puppy so she doesn't roll on to the puppy yes there are bumper boards to help keep that from happening however the first 2 weeks the puppies are small and can still get laid on.

Dreamer was the first labrador I had every experienced a c-section with. toy breeds yes not a big ol lab. Dreamer had whelped 13 puppies with no problem. her next litter was not the case the puppy t-boned her pelvic and was stuck we rushed her into the vet. Dreamer waking up with her last litter all healthy happy babies.

Gluey had an emergency c-section with her last litter. 1 of the female puppies got stuck! we rushed her to the vet where they were able to get the puppy out unfortunately the puppy didn't make it. we did an ultrasound and found the rest of the puppies' heart rates where distressed so we opiated to do the c-section to save both mom and babies

Gluey's Babies also had to wake up for the Anesthesia they don't get a lot but do get some so they need a lot of stimulation.
Whiskeys 1 and only litter. half was delivered via emergency c section
We try to get the girls in for X-rays to get a count on how many babies she is expecting. sometime it's easy to count and sometimes there are puppies hiding in there.
